People have always teased me a bit for being gullible and naive. This used to embarrass me because I thought they meant that I was stupid! But now I know that God protected my eyes and ears from things that could hurt my heart. As I hear about the role models our children have today and listen to the words of the music they love I am thankful that God allowed me to grow up in a time that was somewhat more innocent. How desperately we need to not only guard our own hearts but to also protect our children from the unclean images and words that they are bombarded with on a daily basis.

As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team?
