Artist's Description
I have had so much fun playing with the colors and hues of one of my watercolor paintings of a sunflower. "Sunkissed Sunflower" came into being from one such play-time. I love the various shades of red and orange petals against the strong magenta's and violet's of the sunflowers center. The olive greens in the leaves "pop" next to the turquoise of the sky and the reds of the petals. Working with complementary color schemes is always delightful!
Maybe someday I'll invest in a digital program and really, really get down to business when it comes to "playing" with my paintings and photo's. But for now, just a little "tweaking" with the basics is good enough for me!
About Laura Grisham
As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team? Although it broke my heart, I chose music and dance. You see, those areas received much more attention, and as an insecure young teenager that was one thing I strongly desired! However, deep...
