Meet 'Gizmo' or 'Gizzy' as our family usually calls her. She is owned by my youngest niece, Emma. I promised Emma I would paint Gizzy a long time ago and have even had the image sketched on the canvas. To be quite honest, I was terrified to even TRY to paint this dog! She is the blackest little thing and she is a fur-ball...I knew it would be a daunting task. Christmas seemed like the perfect time. What I ended up with was the scariest looking creature you have ever layed eyes on...it was horendous! Needless to say, Emma didn't get her Christmas gift and I apllied SEVERAL coats of white gesso over the monster dog!
I realized later it was the photo I was using. It was just too stiff of a pose and didn't show Gizmo's personality. Emma sent me this shot from her iPhone. He looks very laid back! ;)
Laura Grisham replied:
She is usually a little hyper fur-ball! Emma just happened to take her picture as she was falling asleep. Gizmo is so darned cute!

Oh, Laura, how darling!!! You can even see the pads of his little paws because they're all puppy chubby. You've captured such a mischiveous light in his eyes. Gizmo is such a perfect name for him and you did a truly wonderful job!!! FAV!!
Laura Grisham replied:
Gizzy isn't even really a puppy...he's just so very tiny he still looks like one! He also stands up on his back legs and paws at the air with his front legs. It looks likes he is dancing!! Guess what... my son just reminded me...Gizmo is a GIRL! lol...Guess I need to revise my description. Thanks for your encouragement!
