Oh how I love a good pun! And creating flowers from such an odd material as 'Duck Tape' and staging them has become my latest obsession. Every time I see a new pattern of tape my mind goes crazy trying to come up with some type of "funny" way of portraying it in a floral. I'm always open to suggestions.
If you like my work, collecting my "DuckTape Florist" prints would make a great conversation display for ANY home where laughter and intellectual humor is admired.
*I wish to dedicate this piece to my friend and confidant, Artist Bruce Combs...who always signs his message, "Peace, Bruce." The idea for these flowers came from his many notes and comments...and for you, Bruce, may you one day see the Peace you so long for in the world.
As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team?
