Artist's Description
This sculpture is currently on display at the MAYO CLINIC in Rochester, MN. When we were there in July 2011 we were absolutely amazed at the detail in this magnificant piece. The glass is frosted with some clear areas. Notice the woman's back and you can see clearer glass where her dress dips down in the back. A mere "passing on the street" turned into glass to be enjoyed for generations.
I wish I knew who the creating artist was, however, it was either not posted yet or we did not see it. If you ever have to visit the Mayo Clinic be sure to look for this sculpture...it is definitely worth the effort!

I hope it's still there when we return to Mayo at the end of October. Surely by then they will have completed and added the artist information to the glass case that housed this wonderful piece.

Absolutely amazing, Laura! Thank you for preserving it for all of us, and also for the explanation of what glass sculpture is, Maybe a careful-handed surgeon at Mayo created it from a big block of glass and carefully chiseled it down, Michelangelo-style! Seriously, whoever however made it was not only marvelously and uniquely skilled but a very imaginative artist, too! Peace, etc., Bruce
