Look what the DuckTape Florist came across during her travels...the rare African Wildflower! They come in two varieties: Cheetah and Zebra and blend well into the environment. These beautiful flowers are near extinction due to over-harvesting. Thanks to the hard work of environmentalist groups, they are now popping up in clusters such as these across the plains of Africa once more.
Just in case you believed my "wild" tale, these flowers were created with Duck Tape, florist wire, and bamboo skewers and placed in one of my flowerbeds to be photographed. They make an amazing bouquet for a table or a great gift for that whimsical friend who has everything.

More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team? No, Laura. You are taking my foolishness incorrectly, as if I could and would speak literally, intelligently, and seriously. I meant only fun -- for me first, if not only, I guess -- and I thought such "playful teasing" was a sign acknowledging high regard. Especially my numerous other sort of parched academic style comments praising your very wide different styles ("The Song is You;" [hear Sinatra?] "The painting not easy to discern from the painter," -- [to convolute Yeats, who is among poets I respect -- also enjoy! -- the most]. So, in a large summer squash shell: I have very high regard for your talent and creativity and technical finesse in constructing objects of graphic art. Further, I don't at the moment think of any artist so ubiquitously experimenting, and especially daring to follow her "instincts," and most unique, a willingness voluntarily (almost becoming an obligation, so many people have praised them so highly!) to provide ample candid details of the circumstances and methods AND CONTENTS of her "organically grown" paintings! [If only our Food and Drug Administration would require the same labeling for foods!] So as a last wise word, for now, Laura, your ending to your reply just above -- YOU ALREADY HAVE the GUIDANCE (see Proverbs 4 verse 23, and the painting thus named), and then mull your own words a bit more. Then get in there and paint your elbows off and don't ever stop -- unless you feel guided to. Peace, etc., Bruce

Bruce: I think I get what ;you are trying to say...why am I fooling around with duck tape when I should be using that time to paint. Am I right? Maybe it's because I needed a distraction for a while; or maybe because I have not sold a painting in, well, it seems like forever. Making flowers from duck tape and selling them for a few bucks at least brings in, well, a few bucks! Looks like we need to have one of our "artist to artist" conversations so that you can flat out tell me what you think...THAT'S what I need...guidance. Blessings, Laura

Yep...right in one of our shrubs that was just beginning to bud. The branches are a red color and I thought it looked, well, "jungle-ly" !
