Description
Just another ordinary Sunflower standing tall and following the sun. Look closely at the magnificance of a sunflower and you will see so much more. The seeds that they bare carry on their legacy and also feed hungry birds; the small petals that turn inward; the large, twisted petals that flap in the breeze; the huge leaves containing various shades of green; and then the thick, straight, and tall stem that allows the flower to stand tall. It's roots must go deep for water, nourishment and stability.
Our roots need to also be deeply planted for the very same reasons. Shallow roots produce no fruit and can easily be blow over by even the slightest breeze. Sometimes our buden is heavy just as I imagine the center of the sunflower is heavy with its seeds. But God says in Matthew 11:28 "Come to Me and I will give you rest- all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear MY yoke - for it fits perfectly - and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; FOR I GIVE YOU ONLY LIGHT BURDENS."

Lovely piece, Laura! I was a little surprised it was watercolor... You got such intense color from watercolor!! I am impressed!! And the black accents work really nicely with the bright colors. I enjoyed this whole gallery!
Laura Grisham replied:
The intense color was definitely intentional although I cannot even explain how I achieved it! The black lines are made with Elmer's glue mixed with black ink...I love to hold the bottle up high and let the glue stream down to form the lines. It's messy, but lots of fun!
