Artist's Description
This is Chloe...the Pug. I've never personally met her, but she is the pet of a friend of a former student of mine, Alicia. Alicia had me as a teacher when she was in the 8th grade. She is now 26. My how time flies! Anyway, she was very sick then and just recently found out why...she had Cushings Disease. They removed a tumor from her pituitary gland and she should get better over time. While she was recouperating, she stayed with her friend, Vickie. And guess who Chloe belongs to? Yep...Vickie. It's Alicia's way of saying thank you. And painting "Chloe" for Alicia is MY way of saying thank you to her for always staying in touch and making me feel special.
About Laura Grisham
As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team? Although it broke my heart, I chose music and dance. You see, those areas received much more attention, and as an insecure young teenager that was one thing I strongly desired! However, deep...

Hi, Pamela! Besides engrosing art I'm always looking for a chuckle, most anywhere I can find one. Now, I just cannot help comparing that beautiful cat's expression to your comment to Chloe and Chloe's expression. Thank you. Peace, etc., Bruce

Wow...how can I praise God enough for allowing me to bring such happiness into other's lives. I liked teaching school, but I must say I love painting MUCH more! And thank you, Alicia, for allowing me to continue to be a part of your life. Vicki: you are more than welcome...it was a pleasure!

Chloe is our precious "little girl" pug. Laura Grisham painted Chloe as a surprise birthday gift from a friend. My husband & I were amazed how Laura was able to capture the essence of Chloe. She is 10 years old and only weighs in at 12 lbs. - that is small for a pug. When she was just a year old, we had her picture taken at pug rescue fund raiser. The photo background was a red, white & blue theme and Chloe just happened to be wearing a flag patterned neck scarf. It was such a cute puppy picture that I entered it in a dog calendar contest. Chloe ended up being the 4th Of July calendar-girl Pug! Her expressive eyes seem to warm everyone's heart. Currently the chiro-vet visits her weekly to adjust her lower back. She has nerve damage that causes her difficulty in walking. Laura you were able to capture the little pug we love so dearly! Thank you and thanks for all the sweet comments about our beloved Chloe'.

You could not have done a better job. Chloe's essence is captured perfectly! i was in awe when i first saw the painting in real life. i had to hurry up and pack and ship it to a waiting Vicki - but not before i oooed and ahhhed over it! Miss Chloe is a special sweety and she holds a place in my heart right next to Vicki. i could not have ever wished for a more perfect gift for my Vicki to show her how much i care. You, Mrs. Grisham, will always be near and dear to my heart - Thank you from the bottom of it for taking the time to create such a lovely piece of art for Vicki that she will enjoy for the rest of eternity. Love, Alicia

Oh, all your "pooches" have such perfected eyes! I'd swear that these each had a clear hemisphere cornia -- maybe doggie contacts? Ah, but Chloe's expression is so deep, so complex! Is a lot of it fear? Or hope? Both? And what a color, the neck-piece! Anybody expecting a pastel for this Pug has been surprised! Don't they fit perfectly, enhancing each other?! But my favorite part, after those funny whiskers, is noticing how that a number of colrs, of hues, blend to create the wrinkles of the pug-neck! And still next after that is HER left ear! My first glance I thought she had a soft, thick, shawl or scarf wrapped around her head. So, what fine styles and painterly technique can we find it this wonderful "personal" work of art. PS: And thank you for again providing with the background to the painting's wonderful healing ability! I'm sure that is a major reason to be of domestic animal companions. If I may say just another word or two of my own beliefs: fi only humans could want and learn to live in kind and happy peace as so many animals do with us, what a wonderful, unfearful, world of beauty it would become. So, peace, etc., Bruce
