Psalm 46:10
"He says, be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the
nations; I will be exalted in the earth."
Steven Curtis-Chapman recorded a song entitled, "Be Still" several years ago. As I worked on this piece the song reverberated through my entire being. I wish that I could post it here to play as you viewed this special painting. Here are a few of the words...."Be still and know that He is God. Be still and know He is our Father. Come rest your head upon His breast...listen to the rhythm of His unfailing heart of love...beating for His little ones...calling each of us to come.
Be still."
If you wish to listen to the song and see the words on YouTube, here is the link:

My hope is that God will be glorified and honored through this painting and the many others that are soon to follow in it's footsteps..."Scripture Paintings."

It was fun to create, although quite messy with all the glue, paper, etc. And I agree...simple and joyful (sort of like ME!) Many Blessings, Laura

Hi, Laura. I can especially understand your painting after reading the words to the song which, along with the verse, inspired this painting. You really captured a sense of peace and serenity with the expression on the face of the subject.
Laura Grisham replied:
Carla: The description area when posting a new painting are as important to me as the painting itself. I want people to understand why the artwork was created...what I was thinking, feeling, etc. at the time. So glad you understand and appreciated my words and my work. Many Blessings, Laura

Beautiful. And it captures that verse really well. It's so hard to be still!
Laura Grisham replied:
I know, Beth. It is even harder to be still...and quiet...and hear God's voice. It's so nice to know that you understand my paintings...you 'get them'....

I would have interpreted this painting as indicative of relaxing or resting. Then I looked up the scripture and was pleased that I had enough knowledge of your painting to be close to your meaning. It is lovely, the colors are great. mom
Laura Grisham replied:
Thanks, mom...you've always encouraged me to go further than I thought I could. You are the one who has believed in me even when I was a child painting by numbers in my bedroom. I love you...Laurie
