Description
The second in the "Cherokee Trail of Tears" series, "Brave Family" was completed on 5/21/2009. The difficulty in telling your child that you must leave your homeland to move to an unknown place is the concept behind this painting. I used india ink glue, poured acrylic paint, feathers, yarns, bead work, and wire-wrapped blood stones, lapis, jasper, and peridot. Much love was poured into this piece with the hope that all who view it will begin to understand the sadness and mourning of a people whose homeland was taken from them.
*The original has been professionally framed in a dark mahogany, plain, style frame with no matte.

Beautiful painting Laura, I love the colors and composition of this, and especially the emotion it evokes from the viewer. Keep up the great work! Also, thank you for the very kind words on a number of my images, I really appreciate your comments!

You like everything about this painting that I tried to achieve...big sigh of relief! It's great to know people actually "get it!" And as for your artwork: it's so amazing that I have to visit your site and allow myself only so many minutes or I'd be there for hours! Honestly, I love what you do... Many Blessings, Laura

This probably is my favorite of this group, although singling any one painting from this group seems even more ridiculous than usual. Peace, etc., Bruce

I am so overwhelmed with joy that you have chosen to feature "Brave Family" on the "Tribal Group" homepage. I feel so honored to be associated with such a wonderful group and that they would consider allowing me to join them. I am humbled and yet proud that you were able to see my love for the Cherokee Nation in my work. Thank you. Blessings to All, Laura Grisham
