One of our favorite couples to spend time with, Drew and Jill Steed, are expecting their first child. I wanted to create something for their nursery that would "fit" with the other pieces of art that they have purchased from me and others. The baby's room is grey, which allows for color to come into play from any source at all.
Jill's shower was wonderful and she cried when she saw this painting. I must confess that I saw a similar painting and fell in love with it. I recreated it using my own style and colors. The figures are basically the same but have a different shape to them, and I added all the swirling lines...which I love to do in my paintings if I can.
We don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl, but we DO know that it will be much loved.
As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. Lil & Sharon: Thank you so much for taking the time to encourage me with your words. I love that painting, too, and hope to create more similar to it in the near future. Again, thank you!

laura the painting is as touching and beautiful as the sentiment. I would have cried too.

Laura, this is truly elegantly beautiful with the fluidity and the otherworldly feel. I love the glow which gives it a warmth and a feeling of invitation although somehow you are still outside looking in. It's almost like looking through the window, reaching out your hand to touch because you want to be a part of it. The colors are so vivid and perfectly complementary. It's just absolutely wonderful. FAV.

Oh, Laura, I think you just lost a friend! ME!!! Your friends (and baby) better have stong locks on their doors or this boldly drawn and colored wonderful work of art may disappear! This is so much like what I've been trying, have been wanting, to do, I think -- only so much better. Thank you for sharing it with all your Fine Art America colleagues and visitors! Peace, etc., Bruce
