....wow...I feel your pain....praying for you....

Laura Grisham replied:

Thanks Jay! I talk to God about it everyday and I keep hearing "wait..." Headed back to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for the 4th time this year at the end of October. And painting this piece helped me get rid of some of that "pain." Many Blessings, Laura

Artist's Description

This is ME. . . or at least a stylized version of me. Everyday I have a swollen abdomen with pain, and no one has been able to discover why. It's been almost 3 years now and it has only gotten worse. As of today, June 16, 2011 my neck, face, feet, hands, and ankles are now grossly swollen. I am a balooned version of myself. I hate it. It's hard to find things that fit. People think I'm pregnant...and I'm 50 years old! Look closely and you will see my tears. I don't have many because I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome...but it doesn't cause swelling. I cry alone and often ask God why. He simply whispers that it is not for me to know the reason at this time. I will trust Him and hope that my experience will help someone else in the future. But for now, I will hold tightly to the hands of "Sorrow" and "Sufferring."
("Sorrow" and "Suffering" are 2 of the main characters in my favorite book, an alagory by Hannah Hannard: "Hinds Feet on High Places."

About Laura Grisham

Laura Grisham

As a child you could often find me quietly "painting by numbers" in my room. More often than not, my paintings were not exactly like those pictured on the box because I loved to change the numbers/colors around. Although I won awards for my artwork in elementary school I never really believed in my heart I was a real artist. I thought that "real artists" could draw anything from memory, and that was a gift I did not have. When reaching the upper grades we had to choose among our electives. Music...Art...or Dance Team? Although it broke my heart, I chose music and dance. You see, those areas received much more attention, and as an insecure young teenager that was one thing I strongly desired! However, deep...
