Painting - Water Color And Black Glue On Watercolor Paper
Description
Several years ago I was dilly-dallying in watercolor painting. It was an area that I found fascinating and also difficult. I had no teacher and no one to tell me if I was doing it "right." I used heavy, large sheets of the best watercolor paper I could find. This painting is one of the better ones! I must admit that watercolor still illudes me. One day...some day maybe I'll take a class.
As for this particular painting, it was purchased "on spot" as I was delivering several other of my pieces to my dear friend Gina. I had just had it framed and she took one look and said, "I want that one too!" She had the perfect spot for it in her new home.
I had not posted it before now because she bought it so fast that I never had a chance to even take a photo! But, that's okay...I have a MUCH better camera now and she was more than happy to let me borrow it for a day.

Very lovely. It seems transparent like glass.I really love the structure of your flower and the black glue is wonderful-love the looseness
Laura Grisham replied:
Chris, I don't know what I would do without my black glue! When I apply the "glue lines" I have to let the glue flow from the bottle several inches above the paper or canvas...thus, the looseness. As for the transparency: how I did that I have no idea!!

Laura, WOW! I love this painting.. I need pages to express what I love about your painting... Your colors are so beautiful, your drawing of the flower and the layout is stunning. I wish I could paint watercolors with you, you make your colors pop, and I never heard of black glue. Your talent shines and your excellence with this medium shows with master skills.. voted/fav!
Laura Grisham replied:
Can you hear me giggling Chrisann? I haven't come CLOSE to mastering watercolor and haven't even "played around with it" for some time. Maybe I should try again soon. As for the black glue: just take a bottle of Elmers glue and add india ink to it. Mix it VERY WELL and then use it to define the lines. It does take some practice to get the thickness just right and keep your lines straight. Give it a shot!
