Description
The story behind this painting just has to be told. It's really funny when you think about it.
My son's fiance wanted a painting of a shelter dog she had taken in. She named the dog "Delilah". But Delilah was sick and had very little energy. Brittany carried her everywhere and did anything she could to help the poor dog get better. Delilah passed away due to the Parvo virus which is very common in homeless dogs.
Brittany was devistated to say the least. She cried for days. On her birthday a few weeks later her parents bought her a blonde long-haired dauschand...but she still missed her Delilah. So, being the loving "mother-in-law" that I am, I decided to paint Delilah for Brittany for her birthday. You should have seen her face when she opened THIS painting. She said, "mom, that's not Delilah." I was shocked. This photo was on her Facebook page and she always kept the dog in a pink blanket.
Long story short, I later painted the REAL Delilah and Brittany was very happy with her new painting.
I thought about painting over the name "Delilah" on this painting but decided it needed to stay...after all, everyone loves a good story!
*THIS PAINTING WAS DONATED TO THE ANNUAL "TUXES & TREES" CHARITY FUND RAISER FOR CARTI OF ARKANSAS.
I am happy to say that Mark and Keith are very excited to own this one-of-a-kind painting...and I hope to soon be painting their own dog, JAX!
